Songs of the Past (Life Tracks)

Feel Good Inc.- Gorillaz
The first time I heard this song was in my childhood, when I was a little child, with, maybe, a little more than 5 years. I really liked the song, and the video was so strange, it was so good. It reminds me of “Californication” of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but a little bit better. It also reminds me of my childhood almost each time I hear it, and I enjoy it.

All I Have- Jennifer Lopez
My mom loves JLo a lot, and almost every time we would go in the car with her, she would put a disk full of a variety of music, Jlo’s songs being one of them. This song reminds me of those moments that my mom began to play it; it reminds me, in a way, of my mom.

You’re Beautiful- James Blunt
I didn’t understand what the song really meant when I was little, I would just enjoy it. My mom would later explain me that this song is about a man that fell in love at first sight, but knew that he would never be with her. It reminds me a little bit of my past, of what has happened to me, which is sad, but at the same it I’m happy that it had happened.

I’m Blue- Eiffel 65
This song is somewhat strange, not only in the lyrics, but also in the video. I remember that one time, three friends of mine and me sat down together, and talked about this song. It was funny because there was a point in the conversation that we would try to do our best to sing the chorus just like in the song. We told a friend, or let the rest of the group judge (I don’t even remember) who had sung the chorus really good.

Wind- Akeboshi
This is a really sad song, and I remember being addicted to it for some time. What’s even worse, the rhythm of the song made it even sadder. It reminds me of the bad moments in my past, about my suffering and almost everything bad, but I still enjoy this song.

Room 409- Bullet for my Valentine (I wouldn’t recommend hearing it)
I remember one time searching for music videos, and this one song came with a series I really liked. How this person had edited the video was amazing, but the song made it even better. Also, this song has a lot of intensity, and would make me imagine a scenario where I was mad at everyone, and how they would react to me being mad. I wondered if my classmates would help me overcome that anger, or not, and how I would treat them.

A Little Piece of Heaven- Avenged Sevenfold
One time, a friend of mine came to my house to finish a project we had in literature. I don’t remember that well, and I might just be making something up, but I remember that my friend asked me of it was okay to put a song, and I said yes. At first, I didn’t like the song, it was long, and strange, it wasn’t my taste, but I ended up liking it a lot. This made me a little bit closer to one of the groups in my class, and I was happy.

Glow- Madcon
I don’t know how, I don’t even remember how I found this song, I just found it. I remember watching the video that Eurovision had filmed in Youtube. I liked the video a lot. One could see people just dancing everywhere from a bunch of places, it was just amazing. I remember showing it to my sister and my mom, and I would never stop saying that I loved it, and just show the video to them over and over again. It sure was funny.

Happiness- Goldfrapp
If I remember correctly, I watched their music video in Cartoon Network one day. It made me happy, this young man, wearing a white suit, jumping and playing with the èople while he had a smile in his face. My sister and I liked it so much, that we would jump around the house non-stop, and we would get really tired a few minutes later. Just like in Madcon’s Glow, this video made me happy because of the unity of people shown.

This song was recently presented to me. Just before my departure, a friend called me, and played this song for me. I loved it, and he said that it was something for me to remember. I didn’t know what to say, so I just said thank you very much, and wished him luck because he was going to another place. I really love this song, I’m really happy that he showed it to me.

A Little Piece of Paper (Artifact)

A Piece of Paper

It may be a little item, an insignificant object, but it may be the most important object that you've had. In Thanksgiving, my class wanted to play a little, fun game were we would put a piece of paper at our back and other people would write what they thought about us. Funny enough, I was the last one to enter to the class because I was talking to another teacher about something, and I didn't know what to do exactly. To do it quick, I took out a piece of paper from my notebook, and put it on my back, while the other people had blank sheets of paper.

Some people might have trouble reading it because of how the paper has become, or because of the spanish words in it. It basically says things like "artist","little bear","really good friend" and other things. It really reminds me about how people see me and what I have. This piece of paper says that I'm not alone, that I have friends that are by my side, and I feel really happy about that, it is something that I hope not to forget.

At the moment, this piece of paper is a little bit above 1 year old. It may be the most horrible, wrinkled, torn paper without price that there can be, but it is my favourite little piece of paper that I'll try never to get rid of. I'm happy to have it!

Quotes

Quotes

¨When do you think people die? When they are shot through the heart with a pistol? No! When they have an incurable disease? No! When they drink soup made from poisonous mushroom? No! They die when they are forgotten!¨
-One Piece by Oda Eiichiro

This quote has a lot of meaning itself. It tell that people don’t just die, and leave this world, but tells you that their legacy stays here, no matter how much time passes. Big minds like Albert Einstein, or Shakespeare have died, but their doing is still recorded and will be remembered throughout history. This quote really motivates me, that’s why I like it a lot.

¨Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.¨
-Norman Vincent Peale

This quote can make a lot of people get familiarized with. There are many people that don’t believe that they’re good at what they are doing. Sometimes it might be that our self-esteem is really low, making us believe that we’re really bad at doing things. Other times it might be that friends, and possibly media and other sources, tell us that it’s not correct, or that we’re doing bad. If it’s good, don’t let that affect you, if you know that you’re good at it, then do it, why not?

¨Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later.¨
-Og Mandino

This quote can be very true. If a person plants hatred, hatred he will harvest. If a person plants happiness and good, happiness and good he will harvest. It’s basically saying that what you do to other people, most likely, will happen to you too, maybe worst. I can really sense a strong self-identification with this quote. I’ve tried to plant good, and thank God, good I have harvested, it’s a really amazing feeling.
